The widget won't be updated If I change the downloaded widget app to system app (using something like Titanium Backup), the problem gets solved. I had the same problem since the last versions of MIUI, not just for the 7 one (5.10.8) Thought that the battery usage suggestion by @Veerasuri might have been the magic answer, but alas, widgets still don't work.
